Only One Safe Place

                                             Only One Safe Place

                                              (Are you prepared?)

The news reports that the earthquake which has taken place in Haiti is the largest natural disaster in our Western Hemisphere.  Are we next?  Earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, worldwide financial meltdowns, terrorist attacks, world catastrophes, wars and rumors of war are everywhere.  Sounds like we are right on the edge of the greatest tribulation that this world has ever seen.  Many have lost everything and we stand the chance of losing everything, as no one has the answer to safety from these things.  And I will guarantee you from history that a godless leadership will not be prospered with the answer.  The Bible prophesied that these times would come just before Christ’s return.  so where is the safe place for our family and us?  There is Only One Safe Place.

1.  Noah dwelt there.  You might be surprised to find out that the safe place Noah dwelt was not the ark.
If Noah had not prepared his heart prior and learned to dwell in the only one safe place, then he would have never received the warnings or the instructions to build a physical ark. The Bible tells us that there was a place Noah dwelt, the only safe place, where he was able to hear God’s voice and learned to prepare for this great flood. It was a secret place. It was a quiet place. It was a spiritual place. How do we know? And where was this place? The Bible tells us in Gen 6:9 – NOAH WALKED WITH GOD. We too, if we are to receive God’s warnings and be prepared must dwell there also.

2.  David dwelt there.  and warns us that we must PREPARE BEFORE TROUBLE COMES.
Psalm 32:5-7
5.  I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden.  I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”  And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.  Selah
6.  For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You in a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him.
7.  You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.  Selah
David is saying that he had already prepared his heart for a flood of trouble.  He is also warning us to get ready at a time when God can be found.  He is telling us how to prepare and that if we do prepare, the flood of great waters will not come near us.  How did David prepare?  Let’s review.
He acknowledged his sin.
He confessed his sins.
The Lord then forgave him his sin.
He then made God his dwelling place.  (forsaking his sin)

2.  Moses dwelt there.  Remember when in trouble dial 9-1-1, not on the telephone but where real help is found – in the Bible.   It is believed that Moses wrote Psalm 91 because it is so much like Psalm 90 which is ascribed to Moses.
Psalm 91:1  He who DWELLS in the secret place of the Most High Shall ABIDE under the shadow of the almighty.  Why did God cover Moses with this awesome protection. The word says because Moses had set His love upon God.
Verse 14  Because he has set his love upon Me (GOD), therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high……..This Hebrew word for “love” is used very seldom in scripture.  The Hebrew word is chashaq and means to “hug tightly in love”.  Moses stayed in the only one safe place by hugging tightly to God in love.

In Summary  We still have time to prepare if we get serious now!  David was prepared when trouble came.  He had practiced on a bear and a lion before the greater challenges came.  He knew how to stay calm during great stress and fear.  He defeated Goliath who was 11 1/2 feet tall and clothed in a Mercury because he had learned way before that stressful day came that there was Only One Safe Place.  David knew it wasn’t his shield that would protect him and it wasn’t his slingshot that would save him.  He knew it was the Lord’s battle and neither the Lord nor His word could ever fail.  He dwelt in the Only One Safe Place.

Psalm 119:114 – You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

Friend, if you have never made God your hiding place, your dwelling place, your safe place it it not too late.  The Bible tells us that now is the acceptable day of salvation.  We now have a Savior, Jesus Christ who has paid the penalty for all of our sin.  God’s word tells us that there is only one way to heaven and that is through God’s Son Jesus Christ and believing on Him.  Just
acknowledge your sin and confess your sins to the Lord today as it tells us in 1 John 1:9. Ask Jesus into your heart.  Then with His help, forsake your sins and begin to dwell, abide in the only one safe place, the secret place of The Most High.  Learn to hug tightly to God in love.  Bless you and please let me know if you have made this decision to follow Jesus.  –   Pastor Robert  Sapp
